About Us

The Black Shadow Project enables people to experience an icon of 80s TV that's still very popular today. That sleek black car called the Knight Industries Two Thousand, or more affectionately known as KITT, from Knight Rider.

Our work includes supporting the Child Cancer Foundation of New Zealand by taking children from the Foundation for rides in a replica of KITT in the annual Santa Parade in Christchurch - home to the Black Shadow Project. In addition to charity events, KITT is available to make appearances for a variety of other functions such as Weddings, Birthdays, Fundraising events, and product promotion.

Although based in Christchurch, we are happy to travel to where you need KITT to be.

Weddings

Being black and shiny, KITT would complement any wedding dress or suit either as part of the foreground or in the back. As we are an independent marriage celebrant and because KITT can talk, he can legally solemnise marriages. Of course, we can perform marriage ceremonies more conventionally if you prefer.

Or if you'd rather use KITT in your wedding in other ways, KITT could sit outside your wedding venue welcoming people by talking to them as they come in. The perfect accessory to any wedding. Alternatively, use KITT at a stag's event or hen party.

School Formal

Imagine how cool it would look turning up in KITT as your mode of transport to your big night out. As you approach the front door, KITT announces your arrival to everyone as they are mesmerised by the gorgeous red scanner beaming into the dark of night.

Birthdays

Knight Rider is a timeless classic with plenty of adults and modern children recognising this 80s icon. KITT loves birthdays so perhaps you'd like him to make a special appearance at one? Perhaps also a trip to the movies or other place.

"We hired KITT for our friend's birthday. Our friend is the biggest Knight Rider fan ever. Steven at the Black Shadow Project drove KITT to our friend's house. The look of excitement on our friend's face was so wonderful. He has learning disabilities, but Steven was absolutely brilliant with him, showing him the car, talking to him about Knight Rider and Dr Who. KITT even said a birthday message to our friend, which Steven had programmed into the car - our friend couldn't believe KITT was talking to him, and was even talking back to the car, he was so happy. Being a massive fan of the show, there is nothing about the car our friend doesn't know, so the fact he believed this was the one and only KITT is testament to how exact a replica the car is. The detail is astounding. Steven then took our friend for a ride in KITT, and he got to drive around in his favourite car for a good half an hour, even going through the tunnel to Lyttelton. As well as this were able to take lots of pictures with the car as well. The visit from KITT and Steven made our friend's day, and I have never seen him that happy. I am so thankful to Steven and the Black Shadow Project, for taking the time to make this special moment happen, and for the kindness shown to our friend. I would recommend this experience to everyone, it really is a great addition to any event, and will certainly make it a memorable one.
